Spring in southern Oregon can be frustrating, beginning with unusually warm, sunny weather in March, and then settling in for cloudy, rainy weather off and on until true spring returns just before it gets hot. "Slow Spring Blues," by Liz Vesecky, was inspired by this capricious season. It is the third piece she has written for the guitar and was premiered by her teacher, Joseph Thompson, for the Jefferson Classical Guitar Society, of which she is a member.

Two previous works were also premiered at JCGS meetings: "The Premyslid Saga," based on a medieval Czech legend, and "Music Box Canon," written for and performed by the Dark Rose Trio (Joseph Thompson, Grant Ruiz and Steve Berman).

Liz Vesecky is currently working on an expanded version of "The Premyslid Saga" for choral ensemble.
